CLASSICAL MUSIC
AMERICAN MODERN ENSEMBLE:
“THE MUSIC OF STEVEN STUCKY”
Stucky, the winner of the 2005
Pulitzer Prize for Music, has steadily risen to become a major figure
in American composition, a position earned because of his music’s
singular combination of fastidious craftsmanship and coloristic flair.
The ensemble (which features the violinist Curtis Macomber and the
pianists Blair McMillen and Molly Morkoski, among others) offers a
survey that includes such works as “Boston Fancies,” “Ad Parnassum,”
and the Piano Quartet. (Tenri Cultural Institute, 43A W. 13th St.
800-838-3006. May 27-28 at 8.)
